Beth Given-Sorensen to Lead Hewnoaks Artist Residency as Executive Director
Lovell, ME, Jan. 6, 2026 — The Board of Directors of Hewnoaks Artist Residency is pleased to announce that Beth Given-Sorensen has been selected as the new Executive Director of the nonprofit artist residency. Beth Given-Sorensen is a seasoned nonprofit leader with over 15 years of experience in arts administration, fundraising, and strategic growth.
Creating Space for Black and Brown Artists: Indigo Arts Alliance Artists in Residence @ Hewnoaks
When Hewnoaks Artists Residency and Indigo Arts Alliance (IAA) formalized our partnership in 2022, it marked the beginning of a shared effort to create space where Black and Brown artists could build lasting relationships, experiment, and grow within Hewnoaks’ singular creative environment.
Finding Voice: A Food & Memoir Writing Workshop with Kathy Gunst
July 26 – August 1, 2026. Join James Beard award–winning writer Kathy Gunst for a week of food writing and memoir exploration at Hewnoaks. This workshop blends daily guided sessions with generous free time, shared meals, and the natural beauty of Kezar Lake. Writers of every level are invited.
Birds & Muses – All Stages Writing Residency
September 6 – 13, 2025. This week-long collaborative residency between Hewnoaks and Birds & Muses invites women-identified, femme, trans, and nonbinary writers at all stages of development, from early generative explorations of a project through advanced drafts of a long-form manuscript, and anywhere in between.
