Wild Light returns for its fifth year β Hewnoaks’ annual day of art, music, and gathering on the lake!
Once a year, we open the property to our neighbors and community for a chance to explore the grounds, meet our alumni artists, and experience Hewnoaks the way it’s meant to be experienced: surrounded by people, art, and the landscape that shapes both.
This year’s exhibition will feature up to 10 primarily Maine-based artists working across visual arts, performance, and music/sound, with a focus on works that engage with the environment and spirit of Hewnoaks. We’ll also have live music and DJ sets throughout the afternoon, plenty of food and drink to wet your whistle, andΒ interactive creative stations scattered around for anyone who wants to get their hands into something, kiddos and adults alike.
While we welcome walk-ins, we’d appreciate it if you could help us estimate headcount by registering on Eventbrite.
Don’t forget to BYO camp chair or picnic blanket to really settle in and soak up every last drop of late summer sun!
Note: As much as we love our four-legged friends, Wild Light is a pet-free event β with so much happening across the grounds, we want to keep them safe and happy at home.

Meet this year's curator:
Nate Luce
This year’s exhibition is curated by Nate Luce, a Rockland-based multimedia artist whose practice spans painting, sculpture, embroidery, music, and installation.
A two-time Hewnoaks alumnus, Nate brings a deep familiarity with Hewnoaks and what it asks of artists. His vision for Wild Light centers on the natural world as a source of connection and meaning, and the many different ways artists interpret it.
