Wild Light returns for its fifth year β Hewnoaks’ annual day of art, music, and gathering on the lake!
Once a year, we open the property to our neighbors and community for a chance to explore the grounds, meet our alumni artists, and experience Hewnoaks the way it’s meant to be experienced: surrounded by people, art, and the landscape that shapes both.
This year’s exhibition will feature up to 10 primarily Maine-based artists working across visual arts, performance, and music/sound, with a focus on works that engage with the environment and spirit of Hewnoaks. Refreshments will be available, and artworks will be for sale.
While we welcome walk-ins, we’d appreciate it if you could help us estimate headcount by registering on Eventbrite.
Wild Light Highlights:
- Free and open to the public
- Family friendly fun for all ages
- A living showcase of Maine's creative community
- A multi-genre exhibition of up to 10 artists
- Curated by a Hewnoaks alum
ββ Want to help us make the magic happen? Weβre looking for a small group of volunteers to help with Wild Light setup, cleanup, parking, greeting guests, and wayfinding on Saturday, August 22! Interested? Fill out our volunteer sign-up form or email info@hewnoaks.org.
Meet this year's curator:
Nate Luce
This year’s exhibition is curated by Nate Luce, a Rockland-based multimedia artist whose practice spans painting, sculpture, embroidery, music, and installation.
A two-time Hewnoaks alumnus, Nate brings a deep familiarity with Hewnoaks and what it asks of artists. His vision for Wild Light centers on the natural world as a source of connection and meaning, and the many different ways artists interpret it.
Artist lineup and full details coming soon – stay tuned!
