The Hewnoaks Artist Colony is an organization that supports artists with time and space and occasionally provides workshops and retreat opportunities for artists, arts groups and collectives, and arts-related organizations. We also love connecting with other artist residency programs. Hewnoaks is a member of Common Field, a network connecting contemporary, experimental, noncommercial artist-run and artist centered spaces and initiatives.
Our residency program
The juried residency typically runs from the last Saturday in June through the third Saturday in July. The application period runs from early February through early March, and the applications are reviewed by a new independent jury each year in late March, and applicants are notified about their acceptance in early April.
Our events and public engagement offer opportunities to showcase our program and the artists who have benefitted from time spent at Hewnoaks. For a list of these programs, please click here.
We have offered workshops on an ad hoc basis. If you have an idea for a workshop that you would like to lead, please email us with an inquiry. For a list of current and past workshops click here.
Retreats and gatherings
These also happen on an ad hoc basis, and this is a new area we are exploring. If you are interested in using Hewnoaks for a daytime retreat for your group or organization, please email us with an inquiry.
