Call for Art

Call deadline extended to June 22

Saturday, August 10, 2019
3:00 – 7:00 PM
Hewnoaks, Road Number 24, Lovell, Maine

The Hewnoaks Artist Colony and the Greater Lovell Land Trust will host special a one-day exhibition and gathering. The 2019 Wild Light Art Exhibition will showcase new and original artwork that celebrates the lands and waters in the Greater Lovell area—we seek to highlight our natural world and invite the creative world to seek inspiration in the woodlands and wilderness.

The Lovell area is a rare natural environment and welcomes many seasonal visitors who treasure the special beauty of the Western Mountains and the pristine waters of Kezar Lake and the surrounding lakes and ponds. By connecting artists with these natural areas, we will draw attention to the power of conservation in our region and encourage participation in both environmental protection and creative expression. For our patrons, the works presented will be an opportunity to share the artists’ experience and enjoy their work.

We invite artists to submit work or concepts to this open exhibition to share with visitors to the event. Works in all disciplines and media may be submitted, and we will accept as many as we have capacity to share. Full presentation considerations must be included with the submission. We’re excited for your creative ideas about what to include. Strong preference given to works created in 2018 or later.

We will receive only ready-to-show works, (i.e. framed and ready to hang 2D works).

There are no fees to submit, nor are there stipends available for participants. Works may be for sale at the discretion of the artists, who may elect to receive up to 50% of the sale price. Hewnoaks will retain a portion of sales to offset event costs and support future programs.

The submission deadline is Saturday, June 22.

All work will have to be ready to be delivered to Hewnoaks by Saturday, July 28.
